This is the stuff I would love to purchase to add to my gear. Or if you feel like buying me a birthday gift.
Cameras:
Nikon D4 or D4s. For the most part once you have used one of Nikon or Canons top end cameras, it really is hard to get use to anything else in the line ups. I truly can only say one negative thing about the D4 and or D4s. That is the stupid Sony xqd card. What a dumb idea that was. Dual CF cards would have been just fine.
Fujifilm X20 or it’s replacement. For the longest time I have been a huge fan of the Canon powershot G series cameras. That is up until I had the chance to check out both the fujifilm and the Canon almost side by side. It was very hard to like the Fujifilm because of my great love for the G series. But the Fujifilm is amazing. I love the new X-tran sensor they have developed. The different film simulation modes and finally the Fujion lens. There is a reason the Hasselblad Digital medium format cameras had Fuji optics on them.
Fujifilm XT-1. Finally a retro looking camera that makes sense and can deliver on image quality. The Fine Art photographer Tony Sweet was asked about switching to the Fujifilm XT-1. He responded, “just fuckin’ do it.” I trust his judgement on gear and I trust my self too. Side by side I looked at a shot of a brick wall between the fujifilm XT-1 and the Nikon Df. I’m sorry, but the Nikon Df was a flop. The XT-1 was noticeably sharper from edge to edge at most of the apertures I tested. ( I will try to reshoot those two side by side and post) on top of that is was every thing every one in the world wants any way; Smaller, Lighter and Faster.
